Why is Byron completing his ministry at RHCC now?
As it says in Ecclesiastes 3:1, “For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven.” Byron feels it is the season for his ministry at Rolling Hills Covenant Church to come to a close. With discussion with the our church Elders, he has decided that June 30, 2019 will be his final day as Senior Pastor at RHCC.
How long has Byron been thinking about or planning his retirement?
For quite some time, Pastor Byron has been considering and seeking when the right time for him and for the church would be to complete his ministry here at RHCC.
How will this announcement affect my experience at RHCC?
It will be a new season without Pastor Byron, but our values, focusing on Jesus, relying on God’s Word, church that is family, treasuring our children and youth, discipleship, and taking the Gospel to the ends to the end of the earth, will remain the same.
Will RHCC still provide both choir/orchestra and contemporary worship services?
Although Pastor Byron is concluding his ministry of being Senior Pastor at RHCC, our worship services will stay the same, and we will continue to provide services for both choir/orchestra and our worship band.
How will the new senior pastor be selected?
We will follow our church Constitution and By-Laws in conducting an unbiased search of both internal and external candidates for our next Senior Pastor. A Senior Pastor Search Committee will be formed during our Congregational Business Meeting on September 22nd, 2019.
How will the pastor search Committee be chosen?
The Senior Pastor Search Committee will include 4 individuals appointed by the congregation and 3 individuals appointed by the Elder Council, which will be formed during our Congregational Business Meeting on September 22nd, 2019.
Why is the Senior Pastor Search Committee being formed until September and not sooner?
Our Constitution and By-Law state that the Senior Pastor Search Committee must be formed during the Congregational Business Meeting following the vacancy of a Senior Pastor. Pastor Byron will be completing his ministry at RHCC on June 30th, 2019, thus the following Congregational Business Meeting in September will be when recommendations will be received and when the Search Committee will officially be formed.
How long will the search process take?
There is not a set time or limit for search process of the Senior Pastor Search Committee. We want this Search Committee to be thorough in their search. Realistically, the search will take approximately a year.
Who will be preaching in place of byron starting in july as we wait for the new senior pastor to be selected?
There will be a preaching team and schedule that will be formed which includes Rolling Hills Covenant Church Pastors and outside speakers
Can we recommend a candidate for the search committee to consider?
We welcome candidate recommendations, but please be aware that consideration of candidates will not begin until the Senior Pastor Search Committee has been formed at the September 22nd Congregational Business Meeting. Please use our contact form to send us any recommendations you have for qualified candidates.
